A life of creating and design

I knew I was different when my brothers wanted toys for Christmas, and I wanted wood, a hammer and a saw.

I have been working with precast concrete for 23 years now. In 1997, after many years of making all wood furniture, I felt like my pieces needed some other material added to it to give it more life. I started working with concrete to create table tops for the tables I was making at that time. By 2001, I was doing custom concrete counter tops and fireplace mantels as a full time business. In 2014, I decided to retire from doing custom concrete work and just dedicate my time to making one-of-a-kind items to sell and Atmosphyre was born. Since my background before concrete was woodworking, it only made sense to combine the two in the best way I could. That is how the bathroom vanity and concrete sink combination was born. I feel my style is what I call, “Veranda style.” Being a long time Veranda magazine subscriber, I draw much of my inspiration from the pages of Veranda, and I see the influence in each piece.

Mission in Life

It really is a blessing to know what you want to do when you grow up. I started working with wood when I was at a very young age. When I became a teenager, my mom wrote me a note before she passed away from cancer. The note was just 3 sentences, but those words would encourage me and help me to focus on what I do best for many years. I really see my work as just doing what my mom told me to do:)

Your wit and personality are an asset, don’t lose them. Use all that wonderful creativity and mechanical skill to it’s full potential. I love you and will always watch over you.
